Commercial Refrigerator Thermostat Calibration: How to Adjust or Replace It
The thermostat is the brain of your commercial refrigerator — the part that decides when the compressor runs and when it rests. Like every other part, it drifts and eventually fails. The result is either a box that runs warm and spoils product, or one that runs cold and freezes the lettuce. Here's how to test it, adjust it, and replace it when it's done.
The symptoms of a drifting thermostat
- The box reads warmer or colder than the dial says — consistently, day after day.
- The compressor runs constantly or, at the other extreme, cycles on and off too often.

Step 1: Test it against a real thermometer
